Garcia Interactive were called in for the design from scratch of a news website based in Lagos, Nigeria. The site, aimed at Nigerians in Africa and abroad was required to launch several weeks ahead of its sister print product. Working with our sister company Garcia Media, we created the new publication from scratch, with a brief to put together a modern news website with an African twist. Designing a complex site from scratch is hugely challenging and requires a lot of new thinking and constant communication with the visionaries driving the editorial mission of the new title. But the Next team showed tremendous strength in facing the many challenges. As always the design went through several iterations until the internal team settled on a version they liked most and they soft launched an Alpha version of the site in December 2008, three weeks ahead of the launch of the newspaper.
